Mansfield Mayor Donald Culliver, is pleased to announce the city of Mansfield and Downtown Mansfield, Inc. have declared Tuesday, September 13, 2011 as Operation Sweep.


Volunteers, local business people and organizations are being asked to don their work clothes and meet at the Gazebo in Central Park at 5:00p.m. to Plant Pride, Not Litter. Volunteers are asked to bring their own brooms, work gloves, and shovels if they have them. The City of Mansfield Engineering Department will provide collection bags and disposal of the litter collected.


“It is very important we continue to demonstrate our pride and dedication to our city and the revitalization of the downtown and nearby neighborhoods that will, in turn affect our entire community,” Culliver said. He added, “This is also instrumental in encouraging others to be a part of Planting Pride, Not Litter in our City, and perfect to prepare for visitors who come to the many activities in the downtown area throughout the year. We have enjoyed this partnership for over 10 years, and hope others join in this collaboration.”


All volunteers will receive a certificate and a small token of appreciation for their participation courtesy of Mansfield Litter Prevention & Recycling. Downtown Mansfield, Inc. will be providing refreshments of cider and donuts as we celebrate the upcoming fall season.


A rain date of Tuesday, September 27, 2011 has been scheduled in case of inclement weather.
