Keep Our Streets-Look’ Neat!
Plant Pride, Not Litter
Our office offers all residents to be a part of this ongoing campaign to Plant Pride, Not Litter in our community. The following reflect some of our programs.
Adopt-a-Street or Block Program
This program enables churches, service groups, businesses and interested residents the opportunity to Adopt-a-Street (or Block) in the city of Mansfield. Our office provides collection bags, disposal of litter collected, vests, gloves and signage with the group name that is posted in the area they have adopted. The signage demonstrates to other residents and those visiting our city your commitment to our community to Plant Pride, Not Litter.
It's Just Somebody Else’s Mess!!
This program includes assistance in promoting litter free events, partnerships, assistance in creating a promotional campaign for your business or neighborhood, sponsoring a cleanup event in your neighborhood and more. The following are just a few examples :
Neighborhood Clean ups
To implement a successful neighborhood cleanup program, it is important to have members of the neighborhood involved and actively participate in the planning and implementation of the program.
Our office will work with the neighborhood organization to assist them in developing their strategy for cleaning up the neighborhood. We will work with the neighborhood organization in organizing their clean up event(s).
Our office will produce flyers for distribution, provide collection bags, gloves and disposal of the litter collected. We can also assist the neighborhood organization in sending out a press release announcing their clean up event.
Rid Your Gutter of Its Clutter
This program is to keep our storm drains free of litter and debris. Our office will provide residents collection bags, gloves and disposal of the litter and debris collected. This program keeps our streets cleaner and helps with storm water management for our community including reduction of flooding.
Residential Clean up
Our office will provide collection bags, gloves and disposal of the litter collected to residents interested in cleaning up the litter on their street when it first appears. Studies have shown that if you can remove the litter from the area within 72 hours, in time you begin to see a significant decline in the litter in the neighborhood. This program is key to seeing improvement in our community.
Litter Free Events
An integral piece of making litter prevention efforts work in any community is to work with the community in hosting litter free events. Volunteers are also welcome to join the White Glove Club. The White Glove Club armed with a broom, dustpan and their “white glove” shirts can be seen at various events throughout the year. Our office will gladly work with any group or organization hosting special events to develop a Litter Free Event.
Partnerships with Businesses
Our office will gladly work with businesses wishing to reduce litter at their business and surrounding neighborhoods. A sample business “kit” is available. Our office will work with businesses to create a program that meets their specific needs.
